Accoya Windows & Doors
Timber Windows and Doors, Built To Last
Accoya windows and doors represent the gold standard in timber joinery. At Spittlywood, we design and build bespoke Accoya windows and doors from our Kent workshop, combining traditional craftsmanship with a material that has been engineered to outperform everything else on the market.
Every project begins with a consultation where we listen to what you need. From there, our team uses CAD software to design your windows or doors before manufacturing them by hand in our workshop. The result is a bespoke installation that is built precisely for your property and built to last.

Why Use Accoya
Accoya is a modified timber created from sustainably sourced wood. It undergoes a proprietary, non-toxic acetylation process that permanently changes the wood’s composition right to the core, giving it qualities that no standard hardwood or softwood can match.
The result is a timber that stands up to the British weather, resists rot, repels insects and holds paint far longer than traditional woods. Over the years, our clients have increasingly asked for windows and doors that combine a high-end look with a genuinely extended lifespan. Accoya is the answer to that. Having used it across a wide range of projects, we now recommend it as our wood of choice for all external joinery.
Spittlywood are official Accoya partners, one of only a small number of companies in the UK to hold this status.

Accoya FAQs
What is Accoya?
Accoya is a high-performance modified timber made from sustainably sourced wood. It undergoes an acetylation process that permanently alters its cell structure, giving it exceptional stability, durability and resistance to rot, insects and moisture.
How long does Accoya last?
When used above ground, Accoya carries a 50-year manufacturer-backed warranty. In-ground or freshwater applications carry a 25-year guarantee. Both significantly exceed the lifespan of standard timber.
Is Accoya more expensive than standard timber?
Yes, Accoya is priced above standard woods. However, its significantly longer lifespan, reduced maintenance requirements and superior paint performance mean it offers far better value over time.
Is Accoya suitable for painted finishes?
Yes, it is one of the best timbers available for painted finishes. The acetylation process improves dimensional stability, which means paint lasts up to twice as long as it would on untreated timber.
Will Accoya windows and doors warp or stick?
No. Accoya’s swelling and shrinkage is reduced by 75% or more compared with standard timber, so your windows and doors will operate smoothly in all seasons without sticking or warping.
Is Accoya an environmentally responsible choice?
Yes. Accoya is produced from FSC-certified, sustainably sourced timber and has a minimal carbon footprint. It is also non-toxic throughout its production and lifespan.
Does Accoya resist insects?
Yes. The wood is impenetrable to woodworm and other biological threats, a particular benefit for properties in rural or wooded areas.
